Soft & Fluffy Sugar Cookies



Let me start out by saying we have no earthly idea who Mary is.

However, my mom has always used this recipe and it is the best there is!


Another version of these is making them into Candy Cane cookies!

Y'all, so good. Plus... they are perfect to do with the kiddos for Christmas!

(Divide dough in half, put red food coloring in one half and leave the other plain. Grab a little ball of dough from each color and roll into lines abouch 1/2 inch thick. Twist them around to make a candy cane! Bake and tip right after With crushed peppermint candy canes!)


I made these last night and soon realized after frosting them that I forgot the cream of tartar and baking soda?!?!?! Ugh! My momma brain, lol. They turned out looking normal! They did taste a little different but not bad at all. Moral of the story? If you don't have these Ingredients, don't fret. But if you do, they'll be perfect!


Frosting Recipe:


1 C. Powdered Sugar

2 T. Milk (give or take)

1 t. Vanilla

Food coloring, if desired


Add sugar, vanilla and food coloring and mix well. Slowly - and I mean very slowly, add milk and whisk until your desired consistency. You can very easily add too much and it become too runny. If this happens, add more powdered sugar.
