Homemade Mac & Cheese


This is what I grew up on. It is so so so so so soooooooooooooo good. And so simple. You can't beat it. Sometimes I top it with shredded cheese and bake it - sometimes I let it get creamy on the stove and serve it as is! We rarely get to the oven baking these days! Hungry kiddos = whiny kiddos which makes me like the faster version MUCH more! :) Can a momma get an AMEN? :)



Ingredients:

1 Box Pasta, Any Kind

1 Stick Butter

1/2 C. Flour

Salt & Pepper

7 Slices American Cheese

10 C. Whole Milk (ish)


Directions:


Boil pasta until aldente.

Melt butter in sauce pan, stir in flour and let cook while stirring for a minute to cook out that raw flour taste. Slowly add milk and whisk CONSTANTLY. Or else you're gonna get lumps. Who likes lumps!? :)

Add salt and pepper to taste (LOTS of pepper in my opinion) and continue to cook on medium heat until it thickens a bit. Add cheese and stir until melted. (add more milk if you need to loosen the sauce - continue to cook if you need to thicken)

Add in drained pasta and ENJOY!

(or, top with shredded cheddar and bake until cheese it melted and bubbly!)
